270PY is Temporarily Closing: It’s amazing how quickly everything changes. Every hour brings new information, and with that, new strategies, policies, and logistics to try to keep up. And as much as we want to keep our doors open to provide a space for community and healing, we believe we have reached the tipping point where it is not socially responsible to stay open. Not just for our students and their loved ones, but also for our team members.  

The good news is that we believe we can carry out the mission and values of 270 Power Yoga in a virtual environment by offering meditation, asana (yoga) practices, possible future empowerment programs and book clubs, and more. Please stay tuned and offer us feedback during this time.  To support us during this, update your email on Mindbody, stay up to date on our social media pages, and check your email for more news to come.  

We would like to request that you consider maintaining your membership as a way to support this studio so it can survive this challenging time and we understand if you are unable. 

Another way you can support the studio is by purchasing credit on your own account or gift cards for friends and family to use when we re-open.

In response to the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Kentucky, we are implementing measures recommended by the Center for Disease Control to minimize the risk of germ sharing in our classes. In short, we are erring on the side of caution in all possible ways, not as a way to freak you out, but as a way to create a safe, healthy environment so you can keep up your yoga practice worry-free!

In-studio and virtual classes:

As of Sunday, March 15, 2020, we are still open and offering a modified in-studio class schedule. We are currently working on creating a live virtual class option that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home while creating a connection with your community. Please stay tuned as we develop this offering over the next couple of days.

Stay home if you’re sick:

We encourage EVERYONE, students, teachers, and staff alike, to stay home if you have any cold/flu symptoms. Need to move your body? Join us for a virtual live class; listen to a live studio class from our sister studio, 502 Power Yoga’s podcast; also stay tuned for our very own podcast! It is in the works!

Bring your own everything:

If you choose to practice in the studio, please bring your own mat, towels,  blocks and straps if you MUST use them. Our teaching team will be modifying their instruction so props are not essential, AND we will still have props available from the front desk by request if you must borrow one. These props will be deep cleaned after every use, as will mats that are rented.

No touching!

We will be avoiding hands-on assists for the time being, and encourage students to use jazz hands and warm smiles in place of high fives and hugs. 

Wash your hands!

Wash your hands before and after practice. Maybe even during! Why not? Can’t hurt! Wash for 20 seconds at a time and refrain from touching your face.

Lavender towels no more:

I know, I know. We are really resistant to making this change, but given the current climate, we cannot in good conscience deliver something from the instructor’s hands to your face and then ask our employees to handle the towels after they’ve been in your hands and near your eyes. If you can think of a workaround here, we are open to ideas… we know it just won’t be the same without the cold towel!

Speaking of towels…

For the safety of our employees, we are removing ALL towels from circulation at the studios:

  • Mat cleaning towels: You will not find mat cleaning towels in the studios. Please follow your yoga mats instructions on cleaning your mat at home.
  • Mat towel rentals: Again, we are erring on the side of caution and will not rent mat towels. Try practicing without one, or purchase a new eQua mat towel at 20% off (at this time, we cannot sell used mat towels).

Our cleaning game is strong.

At 270PY, we pride ourselves on keeping things super clean, AND we are going to step up our cleaning game even more. We will use the additional staff time that would normally be used for laundry and rolling lavender towels to disinfect and deep clean ALL surfaces as often as possible.

Keep calm and wash your hands!
